Students, parents, mentors and librarians came from all
four corners of the state, 14
sites attended: Bethany, Bloomington, Cahokia, Carbondale,
Centralia, Danville, Des Plaines, Dixon, Effingham, Macomb,
Mt. Vernon, Peoria, Quincy, and Springfield. The annual
PNG picnic is hosted by Jesse White, Secretary of State
& State Librarian and Illinois State Library.
After
enjoying a picnic menu of fried chicken, hot dogs, cookies,
salads and soda the PNG students were off to see the Illinois
State Fair Twilight Parade. Each student was given tickets
for FREE rides at the State Fair before returning home.
More than 300 guests were recognized, rewarded and entertained
by Secretary White and the Illinois State Library..
