Aviatrix Amelia Earhart and Howard Knotts at Municipal Airport, Springfield, Illinois. Mr Knotts, a native of Girard, Illinois, was a World War I flying ace. In 1918, flying a Sopwith Camel, he shot down six enemy aircraft in less than a month. |
